Sustain Africa Uganda programme hits targets

Sustain Africa’s programme in Uganda, which rolled out in August 2022, has hit its target distribution to farmers of 20,000 MT of fertilizer

Sustain Africa’s 2022 programme in Uganda has successfully completed, hitting the target of provision of 20,000 MT of discounted fertilizer. The fertilizer was distributed to 71,000 farmers, slightly less than the 100,000 target as farm sizes were larger than originally anticipated.. The fertilizer reached farmers in all regions and 114 districts in the country. Concessional funding was provided by Rabobank. AFAP was the implementing partner in Uganda.

Planning is underway for a new program to supply around 20,000MT of fertilizer targeting 200,000 farmers, supporting the current cropping season that began in February. The program will include at least three fertilizer companies and two seed suppliers, to improve farmer resilience in the current season.
